Acepromazine is a common tranquilizer and central nervous system depressant used in sedation, muscular relaxation and a reduction in spontaneous activity of equines. It can also be used to aid in the control of seizures associated with amphetamine, methamphetamine, 4-Methylimidazole, or metaldehyde poisoning, usually proceeding use of a barbiturate or other anticonvulsant. It is contraindicated in organophosphate or stychnine poisoning.
