- Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine used occasionally in horses for head shaking and pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction.
Dosage: 0.2-0.6 mg/kg, PO, q12h (given for photic headshaking), 0.6-1.2 mg/kg, PO, q24h (for pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction, as an appetite stimulant)
