Class:
Rabies virus (RABV) is an enveloped, single-stranded, bullet-shaped RNA virus of the genus Lyssavirus. It is transmitted to horses through contact with saliva, usually through a bite from an infected animal.

Disinfectants
RABV is inactivated through the use of soap solutions as well as a wide range of disinfectants--1% bleach, iodine-based, quaternary ammonium, 45-75% ethanol, and 2% glutaralehyde. It is also inactivated by sunlight and cannot remain outside of its host, under environmental conditions for very long.
