Sporothrix schenckii is a dimorphic fungus of the Sporothrix genus. This fungi has been found living in sphagum moss, decaying wood, baled hay, and soil. It is transmitted through direct contact with the infected animal or material and is able to invade the skin. S. schenckii is also zoonotic, although most human infects have occurred from cats.
