Gregory Staller , DVM, DACVS
A native of California, Running ‘S’ Equine’s founder and owner, Dr. Greg Staller grew up in a ranching community in the San Joaquin valley where his family raised cattle, crops and owned work and pleasure horses. Dr. Staller rode horses on the ranch and showed in Western disciplines as a youngster and rode and trained horses extensively during his teen years. Dr. Staller attended the University of California at Davis for his undergraduate degree, where he played polo with the Intercollegiate team. Dr. Staller also attended UCDavis for his veterinary studies, graduating in 1987 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Staller then traveled east to complete a one-year rotating internship in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious New Bolton Center. He was then selected for and completed a three-year residency in Large Animal Surgery at New Bolton Center. Always intending to work in private practice, Dr. Staller was employed as a surgeon in California and New Jersey before founding Running ‘S’ Equine Veterinary Services in 1995. With broad primary interests in orthopedic and general surgery, sports medicine, lameness diagnosis and treatment, ultrasonography, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology and internal medicine, Dr. Staller’s expertise and opinion is sought by horse owners and trainers at the highest levels of equine sport. His practice has grown rapidly from one veterinarian to its current five veterinarians. The hospital facility was designed by Dr. Staller and was completed in 2001. The clinic serves as the base for the broad range of services Dr. Staller and his staff offer. Dr. Staller has published primary research articles in scientific journals as well as co-authored numerous case reports. Dr. Staller became board-certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1995. He has been certified as an FEI veterinarian in the disciplines of Dressage, Three-Day Eventing and Combined Driving. He has served in an official capacity for many years at National and International level competitions in these disciplines.
Nicole Jochec , DVM
Dr. Nicole Jochec joined the practice as an intern in January 2014 and has continued with us as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Jochec grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey. A 2013 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, she completed her clinical year of training at Cornell University. Nicole is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist having received her training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. Dr. Jochec’s clinical interests include lameness, diagnostic imaging, hunter/jumper performance medicine and implementing complementary therapies such as acupuncture. She enjoys riding, skiing, hiking with her dogs and standup paddle surfing.
