Sawtooth Equine Services


Sawtooth Equine Services is a full service equine hospital located in the Wood River Valley of Idaho. It provides ambulatory equine veterinary services to horses throughout the surrounding regions.
Erin Crawford , DVM
Dr. Erin Crawford graduated from the University of Woming in 2000 with a degree in biology and received her DVM from Colorado State University in 2006. During her college and vet school years, she worked for an dude ranch-outfitter in Wyoming looking after their horses and mules and spending time on the trail. She also spent several winters driving draft teams at the National Elk Refuge in Jackson. Following graduation from CSU, she spent a year as an intern at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Oakridge is a large referral facility that allowed Dr. Crawford to see a high volume of cases under the tutelage of 4 board certified surgeons. Dr. Crawford joined Sawtooth Equine Service after completing her internship in June of 2007. She is a member of the AAEP, AVMA, IVMA. Her professional interests include general medicine and anesthesia in the equine patient. Dr. Crawford also completed the acupuncture for veterinarians course at CSU in 2006 and enjoys implementing acupuncture as an adjunct therapy in her cases.
George Martin , DVM, MS, MBA, DACVS
Dr. Martin is a 1977 graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine. He interned at the Illinois Equine Hospital in Naperville, Illinois and then practiced for 2 years as a veterinarian for the Illinois Equine Field Service, which provided ambulatory care for horses in the western suburbs of Chicago. In 1980 he began a large animal surgical residency at Colorado State University. In 1983 after completing the residency, Dr. Martin joined the faculty of Louisiana State University. In 1986 he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. At LSU, he was Service Chief of Equine Medicine and Surgery from 1996 to 2001. Dr. Martin also has a MS from CSU and a MBA from Tulane University. Dr. Martin is a member of the AAEP, the AVMA, the IVMA, and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society. His clinical interests are in arthroscopy, general musculoskeletal and gastrointestinal surgery and respiratory problems. His research interests are in surgical solutions to orthopedic problems and causes of fetlock joint arthritis. He has more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in veterinary scientific journals. LSU holds a patent, for which Dr. Martin is the inventor, on a surgical implant for fetlock joint arthrodesis.
