- Amyl nitrite/nitrite is used as a coronary vasodilator and generator of methemoglobin. It is used to treat poisonings resulting from cyanide, hydrogen, sulfide, iodine, nitrates, strychnine, acrylonitrite, and chloroform. 30-6 minute inhalation.
