Cinnamon

Cinnamomum Iners

Cinnamon is made by cutting the stems and bark of Cinnamomum iners . Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde and large amounts of highly potent polyphenol antioxidants. Cinnamon has been shown to significantly increase sensitivity to the hormone insulin and is well known for its blood sugar lowering effects. It can also inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, including Listeria and Salmonella.

Cinnamon extract has been shown to improve glucose and lipid metabolism, which is of benefit to horses with metabolic disorders.
